Doing a little research on this someone commented (don't remember who or where) that it is unnecessary because of the fine screen on the fuel valve stem inside the gas tank.

What manual/book have you. The filter is only in either of 2 places i think on any honda quad, its either on the right hand side of the engine housed by 3 bolts behind a little round looking lid or its bolted up to thr underneath of the engibe but this is only on the new models. Posted September 30, 2021. try without a gas cap for bit and see, in case its not venting. I would try running a small test tank to the carb and see how it runs that way-. Also remove fuel line from carb and check fuel flow through the petcock in both the reserve and on positions-see how well it flows in both positions.

I removed and flushed the fuel tank on my new-to-me Recon today. When I put the petcock wheel on, there is just a simple ^ on it, you can move the location 90 degrees by pulling it off the petcock and make the ^ point however you want. If I turn the wheel all the way in one direction, fuel runs from a small tube at the rear of the motor.
