A lot of reviews I've found about the Ideapad Flex 2-in-1 laptops from 2020-2021 mention that the screen hinges fail within a few months to 1 year, often resulting in the screen cracking. Broken hinge on IdeaPad Flex 5. My Flex 5 14ALC05's left hinge is broken. It had been making weird noises and the screen was separating but I opened it beyond the 90° and it broke a lot more. The screen still turns on and functions but I'm afraid of opening it and trying to take things apart then breaking it further.

The issue wasn't solved and others appeared : first, my laptop screen won't turn on. It stayed black, but the laptop was definitely working. Second, the hinge of my laptop was absolutely destroyed and there was a missing part of plastic. I could even see the LVDS cables between the motherboard and the screen of my laptop.

(Even though the cover might be made of aluminium they cheap out with mounting it on a plastic frame). This manual alsop has the part numbers etc. as well. While you work on your laptop, take lots of pictures.Not sure what is happening here, but a hinge is not meant to fold with your fingers. Use a lever (as does the screen) to fold it. You don't want to loosen it, as it is meant to be tight (so that it will take the whole torque of the screen to fold). 2.
