The K24/k20 engine build are complete beast, unless you really want something totally builded that will push around 600-700 whp, i would go for the all motor build. 5 speed transmissions are more solid than the 6 speeds, at 300-350 whp i would use the stock 5 speed transmission that comes with 2,4 vtec engines.

K24Z3 LX-S comes stock with 190hp to the crank add on that 10lbs of boost and its gonna be a damn close race with the V6 Not only that the Kseries are the best damn 2 liter engines ever built! I've build plenty of K's from the time the have been out and they can withstand a hell of a lot. I have zero concern with the durability of the motor.
