Seeing as its an Amazon product I'm not 100% sure if you HAVE to have prime to use anything? (Like I'm not sure what your options are if you don't have prime already for the device as a whole) I do know that you don't have to go through Amazon to buy the actual subscription to Hidive (paying Amazon to use Hidive).
