I have a 1990 Gamefisher 15HP outboard that starts for a minute or two and stalls carb has been profesionally cleaned, rebuilt and tuned, im having trouble getting solid info on who built the motor so i can find parts for it. Ive replaced the impeller and have great water flow.

The motor model # is 225 581500 (15hp) The prop that's on there now model # is tough to read but I think it's 072025. The motor is on a 14' Gamefisher Aluminum boat. We usually carry 2 avg sized poeple and fishing equipment. (Battery, Minn Kota trolling mtr, gas tank...) If there is any additional info needed I will reply.
Mar 13, 2014. #1. I picked up two super clean 1989 Sears Gamefisher 15hp motors at a flea market the other day. Neither one runs, but both look like brand new and came with the original manuals and hang tags from when they were sold. There is no paint loss on the prop or skeg on either motor and the spark plugs look new.

The thing pulled a 14' fiberglass skiff with two onboard at a good clip, (I'd guess about 18 mph or so with two big guys onboard). I would guess that this is a Chrysler/force motor. My father has a 9.9 GF (which I beleive is the same head as the 15) which is made by Chrysler/force. If the cowling has a grab handle on the top rear and is dark charcoal, you can be pretty sure it is of the Chrysler heritage.Recently I acquired a 15HP Gamefisher inexpensively because it wouldn't start. We disassembled the lower unit and didn't find anything glaringly wrong with the water pump or impeller but it still won't autoprime.
