ESC came on as soon as I was halfway across, wouldn't turn off even after back on asphalt. Jeep wouldn't go over 15-20 mph, depressed ESC off button, light on dash indicated it was off. I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 and it is consistently throwing a P0305 (#5 piston misfire) code and any time the RPM reaches 2800, it cuts out and surges between 2600 and 2800 rpm (exactly like a Rev limiter, assume a limp mode).

Ive not had the problem, but a quick Google search indicates the fix is replacement of a board including the sensor on the valve body. There are Youtube videos on how to do pull the valve body. New board is about $260 at the local dealer or about half that from on line stores.As of right now I'm using my jeep as a daily driver about 16 miles each way.
