A couple tips: Abigail is a fantastic help. A mace will take care of most of what you see underground (I'm on master mode and the flaming mace is still doing great work). Mimics will spawn on the ground floor so you can use Abigail, a mace, and a grappling hook to cheese them and farm gold this way. My next steps:
