I suppose that makes some sense because so many people tend to load up one or two magazines of "the good stuff" and call it good for who-knows-how-long. The Speer/federal rep fired both 165 gr .40, and 147 gr 9mm HST into ballistic gelatin from the same distance. They both opened up perfectly, and penetrated about 14 1/2 inches as i recall. The recovered rounds looked almost identical with only the differnce in 147 to 165 gr in weight between them.
