Mar 15, 2023. #1. Got a SFAR, and I noticed it was chewing up some of the case heads on the brass. Plus always had a flyer in all groups. Anyway, contacted ruger, great service. Sent off and returned on thier dime in about 10 days. New barrel and BCG. Shot some more, and still doing it, but not as bad and as often. Accuracy about same.

However, on the 16” vs 20” question, go 20” because the 16” with Mid-Length gas has been problematic. I had to switch the buffer spring to an M4 spring for it to be reliable on gas setting 2.

The gas block on the 16" isn't at the end of the handguard; Ruger had to put cuts in its handguard so the user can access the adjustable gas block. sbird.
The SFAR, especially this 16.1″ barreled version, balances well in the hand. The muzzle stops and starts quickly and breaking the trigger on target then getting back on target is no real challenge, especially considering the chambering. It’s a .308 autoloader that’s easy to shoot and extremely easy to carry.
