Posted May 24, 2015. I came across an issue recently which has left me with some questions. My friend has a 2001 Impala 3800. We replaced the motor when he got it and replaced many gaskets including from the LIM up. This was a handful of years ago and used plastic gaskets. It was initially listed around a month ago, so hopefully if it does look like it could just be the elbow or LIM gasket they'll be willing to negotiate a bit. Only slight downer about it is that the SC 3800's are supposed to use Premium gas, but at least it's relatively cheap at the moment!

Seems straight forward enough, oe LIM gaskets are a well known weak point on the 3800. However, crawling back under, i noticed the power steering pump was covered in oil as well, behind the pulley. As was the sensor/sending unit right by the oil filter extension.

Remove the fuel Rails. remove the Supercharger ( leave the TB on) remove the Lower intake. wipe up any coolant in the block. flush some oil down the valley of the motor. and then reinstall. 2) Find yourself a 50 ohm, 180 ohm, and a 1450 ohm resistor. Connect these resistors one at a time between terminals A and B and look at the dash guage.
