Both the EVO and RT82 are using basically the same cast steel platter. Pro-ject gives you a felt mat but dampens the platter with a rubber ring whereas Fluance gives you a rubber mat on an undampened platter. The EVO uses a better built motor, but the Fluance's cheaper motor seems to be better controlled if the wow & flutter specs are honest.I'm keen on the below turntables: Fluance RT81 - £249 on Amazon. It's great. It could be a placebo, but I feel like my acrylic mat (Hudson Hifi) improves upon the clarity of bass notes from an electric bass when compared to the rubber mat that came with my tt.
